KIS Partnering Forum in Brussels features and awards innovative KIS companies
More than 150 participants from all over Europe attended The KIS Partnering Forum on 19 February in Brussels, which highlighted the current innovative companies in knowledge intensive services in Europe.
The 1-day meeting, hosted by European Commission (DG Enterprise) under the KIS-IP initiative was the first in a series of three annual events that aim at facilitating networking and partnership between policy makers, contacts from academia, industry and investment and SMEs from specific KIS fields.
Members from all over Europe presented their KIS companies in front of an expert panel of investors, innovation specialists and industrial stakeholders. The final result was the announced winners of the KIS Contest.
Within the Forum, the second KIS 100 Club session also took place gathering the Club members from many European countries to share experiences and foster partnership opportunities within KIS driven sectors.
KISPLATFORM
KISPLATFORM was a horizontal support measure of the KIS Innovation Platform (KIS-IP) that guaranteed the effective promotion of the results of the KIS sector projects.
The KISPLATFORM fostered technological and non technological innovation in services whilst taking into account the dynamic interconnections between research, skills, entrepreneurship, finance and clusters and addressing the needs of high growth ventures active in KIS.
The platform provided horizontal support services via online tools, informative resources and European KIS contests that aimed to identify top European KIS SMEs. The platform also created a dynamic community for mutual learning and exchange of practical experience.
By delivering a service package (communication platform, dissemination, marketing tools) to high growth ventures active in the KIS sectors, the overall goal was to open doors to valuable partnerships and to foster faster growth. In particular, KISPLATFORM:
- Established and further promoted a European Repository of knowledge and better practices on technological and organisational/business model innovation in services
- Developed a handbook on the facilitation of organisational innovation in services
- Created the "Club of 100" - a pan-European business community of 100 leading young innovative KIS companies with high growth potential
- Organised annual European KIS Contests as well as European innovation/service award
- Offered an online platform that served as means for active interaction among KIS players and the investor audience
KISPLATFORM, which initiated in February 2008 and had duration of 3 years, combined the competences of Europe Unlimited - project coordinator serving as the largest network of Europe's pioneering entrepreneurial businesses, active in all major innovative sectors, INNOVA Europe - one of the leading private European consultancy groups in innovation and Cybion Srl - Italian company specialising in business and competitive intelligence on the Internet.
