On the first day, participants will have the opportunity to take part in one of three innovation tours related to the conference’s main themes.

Each innovation tour will take Europe INNOVA participants into several enterprises or organisations involved in one of the clusters presented below. For each innovation tour, participants will be divided into groups and will travel by bus from the conference venue to the selected enterprises or organisations.

Technologies for Image, Sound and Text (The TWIST Cluster)

TWIST is a Walloon cluster operating in the field of text, image and sound. As there is a necessity for companies in this sector to link technology to creativity, the cluster enables professionals from these respective backgrounds to meet and collaborate both in the region and outside the country.

Space industry and space-based services (The Skywin cluster)

Skywin is the WalloonAerospace cluster. Skywin currently brings together 100 regional actors including SMEs, large companies and education and research centres.

There are three main axes to Skywin’s research and development projects: ‘Composite’ that aims to introduce more and more composites into engines, structures and components; ‘Intelligent’ that aims to develop technological niches focusing on onboard electronics; and ‘Applications and Services’ that aims to develop the Space Applications and related services.

Mechanical engineering (The MecaTech cluster)

The Walloon MecaTech cluster focuses on innovation in mechanical engineering. It is composed of more than one hundred partners from business and research.

Today, mechanical engineering extends across a very large spectrum of cutting-edge scientific and technical fields. Some technologies and processes take place at micro or nano level or combine electronics and mechanics (mechatronics) and increasing use is made of sophisticated calculation and simulation methods.

‘Invest in Med’ Innovation Workshop

Alongside the 3rd Europe INNOVA conference, and in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean industrial cooperation, the ‘Invest in Med’ Innovation Workshop will focus on three highlights:

  • A presentation of projects and partnerships on sustainable and cultural industries;
  • An exchange of good practices and cooperation in innovative entrepreneurship between projects;
  • The announcement of the 10 best Mediterranean start-ups in 2010, selected from within the MedVentures project.

The workshop will be followed by a cocktail that will provide good opportunities for people to network.
