“NEW WAYS TO PROMOTE SERVICES INNOVATION IN EUROPE: THE ROLE OF THE STRUCTURAL FUNDS”

KIS Partnering Forum, 27-28 January 2011, Warsaw, Poland

In the KIS Partnering Event novel and groundbreaking approaches to support services innovation with a special focus on the possibilities of providing effective support through the Structural Funds were discussed.

The event focused on:

- To demonstrate that investing in services innovations yields high impact in terms of jobs and growth and is therefore a promising strategy to boost competitiveness and regional development;

- To identify already existing successful policy approaches and measures applying novel ways to promote service innovations by using the Structural Funds; the main lessons from this practical experiences were shared with others in order to raise awareness and to change the mindset of policy makers in favour of better supporting services sectors;

- To provide “food for thought” for new initiatives to be launched and funded under the Structural Funds in support of service innovations, by presenting and further discussing new policy approaches and scope for better practice, building upon fresh ideas from Europe INNOVA pilot actions and other experimental projects.

This seminar was hosted by the Warsaw Stock Exchange and was of particular interest for programme managers and innovation and development agencies interested in stimulating regional development through new economic activities.
